Not every contrail appears as a single, continuous white line behind an aircraft. What to Look For When Evaluating a Sighting
When a reported UFO appears as several aligned lights, rods or segments, a few observations can help distinguish a structured craft from a contrail phenomenon:

A trail does not need to be continuous, uniform or simple to originate from an aircraft.
